The Waldensian Cultural Centre Foundation is a non-profit institution set up in 1989 by the Tavola Valdese (administrative board of the Church) and the Waldensian Studies Society.
The library contains 85,000 volumes dealing with history, theology, philosophy and religion. It is a qualified reference point for the study of Protestant theology and history with a special focus on Waldensian history.
The museum illustrates Waldensian history from its origins to the present day. A rich ethnographic section displays daily life in the Waldensian communities of the valleys in the 1800s and 1900s.
The Waldensian tourist office "Il barba" promotes Waldensian itineraries and welcomes Italian and foreign visitors organising guided tours to museums, temples and historical sites. It also provides information on cultural and religious life in the Waldensian world.
The photographic archives give a rich portrait of daily life in the valleys and in the Waldensian communities. It preserves around 35,000 pictures from the mid-18th century. It provides a truly enjoyable experience for its reference and artistic values.
The foundation maintains and displays collections of Paolo Paschettos paintings, archaeological finds and contemporary art pieces.
The centre publishes both educational and popular texts on Protestantism, the Waldensian movement and the Waldensian valleys, such as the review "la beidana", which focuses on local culture and history, and a series of works of fiction.
The centre deals with cultural promotion and regional development. It cooperates with Italian and foreign institutions towards an understanding and appreciation of Protestant culture.
